The ET 11 series - the electric express railcars of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
112 pages, approx. 205 illustrations, format 210 x 297 mm, author: Heinz Kurz.
The ET 11 01 – 03, along with the two Zossen test cars, were the only German electric express railcars until the Second World War. The vehicles were delivered until 1937 and were initially only approved for 120 km/h. Due to the war, further testing was no longer possible; replacement bogies were only purchased after 1945. After the war, deployments took place, among other things, in the official traffic of the US armed forces between Munich and Berchtesgaden, between Munich and Villach and between Munich and Stuttgart. In 1967 two trains were scrapped. ET 11 01 ran as a measurement railcar at the Munich Research Institute until 1971. Today the train is at the DGEG. Heinz Kurz describes in detail the development and construction, the considerations and measures to improve the running characteristics, the conversion after the war and the operations up to the decommissioning. The ET 11 series further completes the history of the Deutsche Reichsbahn's express railcars.
