EK-Special 152: Class 111 - the last classic electric locomotive of the DB.
Magazine with perfect binding, format 279 x 210 mm
The 111 series will celebrate its 50th service anniversary in 2024. Further developed by Krauss-Maffei (mechanical part) and Siemens (electrical part) in the early 1970s from the standard electric locomotive of the 110 series and significantly revised in many respects, it was the last electric locomotive put into service in large numbers by the German Federal Railways with classic conventional drive technology. A total of 227 examples (111 001-227) were delivered to the DB in six delivery series between 1974 and 1984, in which the manufacturers Henschel and Krupp as well as AEG and BBC were also involved. At the same time, the 111 was the first DB electric locomotive with the new standard driver's table, which would later become the standard for all modern three-phase locomotives.
In the new EK-Special 152 we honor the 50 years of service of the proven and robust 111 series and provide interesting insights into its technology and history. On the other hand, a current operational overview of all machines still active in 2024 at DB AG and at an increasing number of private railway companies is a major focus of this issue, because the "Eleven" today has a very colorful appearance, which we in turn have in numerous high-quality versions Document photos.
