Das Netz der Westfälische Kleinbahnen AG (ab 1942: Iserlohner Kreisbahn AG) reichte ab der Stadtgrenze von Hagen bis nach Altena, führte quer durch Hohenlimburg, Iserlohn und Hemer. Das Unternehmen bot zwischen 1900 und 1964 auf einem elektrisch betriebenen meterspurigen Netz Personennah verkehr und Güterverkehr sowie bis 1975 auch Busverkehr an. In diesem ersten des auf zwei Bände angelegten Werkes geht es um den Straßenbahnbetrieb, in Band 2 („Kleinbahn Westig-Ihmert-Altena und Iserlohner Güterbahn“; erscheint Ende 2015) wird der geradezu legendäre Güterverkehr dieses außergewöhnlichen Unternehmens portraitiert.
