Buch: Eugen Udolph: Die Eisenbahn in Warburg (Westf). 144 Seiten im Format 24 x 22 cm, fester Einband, ca. 160 Abbildungen. Im Bahnhof Warburg (Westf ) trafen einst die Königlich Westphälische Eisenbahn über Paderborn nach Münster, die Kurhessische Nordbahn nach Kassel und die Obere Ruhrtalbahn über Brilon Wald nach Hagen zusammen. Einige Jahre später kam die Nebenbahn über Volkmarsen nach Marburg hinzu. So entstand in der alten Hansestadt ein bedeutender Eisenbahnknoten mit Betriebswerk, Güterbahnhof und weiteren Dienststellen. Hunderte Beschäftigte lebten von und mit der Eisenbahn. Die Folgen des Zweiten Weltkriegs, das Nebenbahnsterben und der allgemeine Bedeutungsverlust der Schiene trafen den Bahnknoten hart. Zwar ist der Zugverkehr noch immer beachtlich, als Arbeitgeber hat die Eisenbahn aber ihre Bedeutung für Warburg eingebüßt. Dieses Buch erinnert an große und weniger schöne Jahre – von den Anfängen bis in die Gegenwart.
