Modellbahn Union Tank car Zafns HO

Articulated Tank Wagon Zafns - The Prototype:

The Zafns type articulated tank wagons are used to transport chalk sludge. To allow the sludge to be unloaded, the carriage is tilted or "bent" in the middle towards the outlet valve. The wagons have been in use since the mid-1980s and are operated by various freight wagon operators and railway companies. This leads to a multitude of combinations in the registrations, home stations and owners of the wagons. They are mainly based and registered in Germany, France and Great Britain. The length over the buffers is 14.45m.

An international silver bullet

Did you know that the Zafns articulated tank wagons are called "Silver Bullets" in England? The carriages are both ferryworthy and Channel Tunnel approved, allowing carriages with British registrations to travel the continent and carriages from Germany, France, Belgium and other countries to roll on English tracks. We have also received photos from our customers of the Zafns tank wagon from the Czech Republic and Italy.

Articulated tank car Zafns H0 by Modellbahn Union:

The Modellbahn Union Gauge H0 1/87 models of the articulated tank wagons are characterized by detailed design and printing as well as numerous attachments attached at the factory. All grilles and panels are also factory-fitted. The cars are available in a prototypically shiny new version as well as with highly realistic weathering. All models have a short coupling link and NEM coupler pockets, and are 166mm long. Optionally, we offer conversion to AC axles.

The imprint makes the difference

As with many modern freight cars, there are no major design differences in the Zafns. Therefore, the main focus of the models is on the numerous variants of adjusters, company numbers, home stations and much more. Various country-specific abbreviations, information on use in ferry and tunnel traffic and addresses are also taken into account.
