Prototype: The first examples of the RTZ wing multiple units manufactured by Stadler have been in scheduled operation since summer 2020. The largest procurement of rolling stock in the history of the RhB with 56 four-part wing train railcars ABe 4/16 3111-3166 "Capricorn" (Romansh for capricorn) will revolutionize operations on the Graubünden meter-gauge railway to an unprecedented extent and on the main network every half hour make possible. On the first Rhine Valley-Engadin line, the Capricorn trains starting in Landquart are routed together to Klosters and then separated or combined in the opposite direction for the onward journey to Davos Platz or via Vereina to St.Moritz. Further operations towards Surselva via Chur to Disentis and between Davos and Filisur will follow as the delivery of the trains progresses. Thanks to automatic couplings, this wing train concept saves routes, offers optimal connections and increases travel comfort with rolling stock suitable for disabled people. The 120 km/h meter-gauge trains consist of a railcar and two middle cars with a total of 129 seats in 2nd class and multifunctional compartments. The control car offers 35 seats in first class.
Train 3133, designed in the Champagne design, was christened Piz Palü in a ceremony on November 25, 2021 as the 500th car body manufactured in Altenrhein for the RhB since 1960. This train is the first with free WiFi. All trains that have already been delivered will be retrofitted in this regard.
In the development and production, great emphasis is placed on uncompromising replication, also, if possible, entire train sets are offered. Narrow gauge track systems in H0e and H0m as well as a track system in 0m complete the Bemo range.
