Depending on the version, different axle bearings, chassis, door handles, steps, platforms and interior fittings are implemented.
As an option, we offer AC axes for the conversion.
The factory-installed interior lighting is powered by two LR41 button cells (not included in the offer). It works independently of the traction current and is therefore suitable for all analogue and digital direct current and alternating current systems as well as for sections with no current. It is switched on by tapping the roof with the enclosed "magic wand".
In the 1950s, Deutsche Bahn suffered from a shortage of freight train baggage cars, which led to the development of the Pwghs 54. In order to avoid the expense of a complete redesign, the car was designed on the basis of the Gms 54. This opened up the possibility of easily converting existing G-Wagen. The Pwghs 54 was similar to the Gms 54 but lacked the loading and ventilation hatches. Instead, it was fitted with a driver's compartment, a toilet and a front door that was accessible via the brakeman's platform. A total of 1200 copies were made.
After entering service, some of the Pwghs 54 found use in express freight services, recognizable by the large "E" on the sides of the carriages. Other cars were used on branch lines and in car train services to Sylt. There were different versions of the Pwghs 54, which differed in axle bearings, door locks, springs and other details.
From 1970, over 700 Pwghs 54 that were no longer needed were converted to Gls 205. The increasing use of diesel and electric locomotives made the escort cars for the staff obsolete. Nevertheless, some wagons were still in use by Deutsche Bahn up to the end of the 1990s, primarily on branch lines and as escort wagons for LÜ shipments. Other cars have survived to this day with private companies and the Deutsche Bahn as workshop and support cars. Over time, they went through numerous conversions with new window positions and changed interior design.
