Electric multiple unit Desiro HC - the prototype:
The Desiro HC (High Capacity) is a single and double-deck variant of the Desiro from Siemens and was presented in 2014. The trains consist of four to six cars, with only the single-deck end cars being powered. Four-section units have 400-420 seats. When operated as RRX, the trains reach a top speed of 160 km/h and are 105m long in four sections.
The Rhein-Ruhr-Express RRX:
The Rhein Ruhr Express (RRX) went into operation on December 9th, 2018. Lines RE1, 4, 5, 6 and 11 are now operated as RRX with Desiro HC multiple units, usually in double traction. Initially, the lines were operated by Abellio and National Express, but now National Express is solely responsible. The trains are serviced at the Siemens Rail Service Center in Dortmund-Eving.

The models are equipped with 2 motors, flywheels, 22-pin digital interface, light change (individually switchable in digital operation), high beam, driver's cab lighting (switchable in digital operation), interior lighting, interior fittings, movable pantographs, short coupling links, live special couplings, dummy couplings at the vehicle ends, working Scharfenberg couplings that can be installed at the vehicle ends and many other details. AC models are shipped from the factory with a decoder.
Something special: the Desiro models with sound
For the sound versions, we had the original sound recorded on a National Express Desiro HC in cooperation with Zimo and LeoSoundLab. You can also find a video on Youtube here. The sound versions can be ordered with each variant.
