Model:
HO gauge AC. Steam Locomotive 85 004 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft. Epoch II. Finely detailed model with many separately attached plug-in parts. Engine with flywheel, LED lighting, fine wheelsets. Top signal alternating with the direction of travel, a red tail light. NEM 362 coupler pocket with short coupling kinematics on both locomotive sides. Model in AC version equipped with extensive sound features and dynamic steam from the chimney. The dynamic steam from Roco ensures a driving and noise-synchronous smoking of the locomotive. Version without smoke deflectors. Model with two top lights.
Prototype:
In total, only 10 locomotives of the approximately 133-ton tender locomotive were built for use on the so-called Höllentalbahn. The locomotives of the class 85 were thus the heaviest tender locomotives that were used in Germany. Because of their traction, the beefy-looking tender locomotives quickly proved themselves on the mountain route. Because of their good performance could be removed in 1933 for the operation until then required rack. Even with the locomotive staff, the locomotives were extremely popular, but they shortened the travel times with passenger trains by more than 1/3 of the original travel time.
