Prototype: The Sylter Inselbahn built 5 articulated railcars with Borgward power cars between 1952 and 1954. These were created from B4000 trucks and semi-trailers made in-house. The Borgward trains were used on the 35km long route from List to Hörnum, and were rotated at the ends.
The depot was in Westerland in the middle of the route. From the end of the 1950s, the ivory-colored paintwork changed to more colorful versions (some with advertising), as the sea air made annual work on the vehicles necessary.
At the end of 1970, operations on the Sylter Inselbahn were stopped.
