This three-car set comprises three short DEV Inox passenger cars of the SNCF from Era III: two B8 second-class cars and one A6D, which combines first-class compartments with a luggage area. The distinctive stainless steel construction gives the models their characteristic stainless steel sheen, making them ideal additions to French express and fast trains of the 1950s and early 1960s.
Prototype: The short DEV Inox cars were developed in the early 1950s as part of the SNCF's modernization program, which focused on lighter, more standardized, and low-maintenance passenger cars. Their robust stainless steel construction offered excellent running characteristics and set new standards in comfort. In Era III, they were a common sight on numerous national and international trains and were considered a symbol of the technological progress of post-war France. Cars like the A6D, with its combined passenger and luggage compartment, were particularly versatile and served railway administrations as a flexible solution for high-quality passenger transport.

Founded in 1944, Jouef was an independent manufacturer of toy and model trains in the French Jura until 1972. The company was later taken over by the Lima Group. The Lima Group decided to continue production in Italy.
In October 2004, the English model railway company Hornby bought Lima and thus took over the brand rights and moulds of Jouef. Since 2006, articles under the Jouef name have been available in the shops again.
