Model: HO gauge DC. SNCF DEV Inox Passenger Car Set.
This three-car set from the SNCF comprises three short DEV Inox express train cars from the early post-war period: an A8 (first-class only), an A3B5 (mixed-class), and a BRT (bar/dining car). The distinctive stainless steel "Inox" construction gave these cars their unmistakable, gleaming appearance, making them symbols of French post-war mobility.

Prototype: The short DEV (Division des Études des Voitures) Inox cars were introduced by the SNCF from the early 1950s onward to modernize high-quality long-distance passenger services after World War II. Thanks to their lightweight stainless steel construction, they offered excellent running characteristics and reduced maintenance requirements. In the 1950s, they were a defining feature of many prestigious express trains within France and on international routes. The BRT bar/dining car, in particular, added extra comfort to the trains and underscored SNCF's commitment to providing a modern and contemporary travel experience.

Founded in 1944, Jouef was an independent manufacturer of toy and model trains in the French Jura until 1972. The company was later taken over by the Lima Group. The Lima Group decided to continue production in Italy.

In October 2004, the English model railway company Hornby bought Lima and thus took over the brand rights and moulds of Jouef. Since 2006, articles under the Jouef name have been available in the shops again.
