Model: HO gauge DC. Diesel locomotive ST44 of PKP Cargo.
Prototype: Based on the TE10 series built by the Soviet Railways (SZD) from 1958 onwards, the Luhansk Locomotive Factory developed a six-axle diesel-electric locomotive for use with heavy freight trains. In 1964, the first two prototypes, M62 01 and M62 02, were delivered to the SZD. Between 1966 and 1975, the German State Railway (Deutsche Reichsbahn) acquired a total of 378 locomotives of this series. Particularly striking in the first production series of the M62 was the missing silencer, which, due to the locomotive's exhaust noise, earned it the nickname "Taiga Drum" in the GDR.
