Steam loco A 3/5 921 SBB Digital Sound

Model: HO gauge DC. Brass hand-made small series model. Steam locomotive A 3/5 921 of the SBB, District III Zurich, ca. 1923. The total edition of all models of the series at Fulgurex is 160 models. All are equipped with ESU sound decoders, minimum radius is R2 (420mm).

Prototype: From 1896, the A 3/5 of the Gotthard Railway was "on everyone's lips"; at that time, the locomotive was presented to the public for the first time "hands-on" at the second national exhibition in Geneva. The locomotive primarily presented the rapidly growing national industry of Switzerland. The A 3/5 202 was a milestone of this exhibition, both technically and in its unusual elegance. The locomotive was manufactured by the Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) in Winterthur. After the successful test runs and trials with the prototypes number 201 and 202, the Gotthard Railway ordered 28 locomotives of the four-cylinder type. The machines were delivered in 4 series by 1905.
The first series locomotives operated from the Erstfeld, Bellinzona and Biasca depots. All locomotives were taken over by the SBB/CFF and then given the 900 numbers (901-930). From 1926 onwards, the machines were gradually decommissioned and some were resold. Unfortunately, no example survived.
