Update capability of the decoder
The update (the firmware download from the Internet is free) is possible when the decoder is installed on the track (the vehicle does not need to be opened) and is carried out either via the FCC digital center or the programmer. If no appropriate hardware is available, Doehler & Haass has a programmer available on request.
The PD12A vehicle decoder supports braking with asymmetrical digital voltage (four diodes in series and one diode anti-parallel), slow travel (with suitable braking modules) and bidirectional communication (locomotive address feedback in DCC operation, RailCom®).
The PD12A vehicle decoder is a new, particularly inexpensive vehicle decoder for pure DCC operation (and DC analogue). There are just a few minor limitations compared to other DH decoder series:
No support for the operating modes SX1, SX2 and MM
No SUSI interface and no unamplified function outputs
No low-frequency motor control (but 16 kHz or 32 kHz can be selected)
No extended function mappings (ie: no conditions, no initial mapping, etc.)
No automatic clutch process (but timers for switching off AUX1 and AUX2 are available)
