The book series Railways Yesterday & Today is dedicated in this volume to Lower Franconia. The changes surrounding the railway become very clear in around 120 direct image comparisons with accompanying texts. The railway has changed a lot between Aschaffenburg in the west, Mellrichstadt in the east and Jossa in the north and Kitzingen in the south. It has either disappeared completely or been extensively modernized.

The VGB publishing group was formed in 2001 through the merger of the MIBA publishing house and the Hermann Merker publishing house. Shortly afterwards, the magazine Modelleisenbahner was taken over.
