Series resistors are a thing of the past! This "intelligent resistor" always supplies your LEDs with the correct current, even with AC voltage. The new version of the KSQ2 with connecting cables saves you the soldering work on this small circuit board – simply connect the pre-soldered cables to a suitable power source and your LEDs, and you're done! The electronics in the KSQ2 limit the current to approximately 2mA, regardless of the supply voltage. Your LED will always shine brightly within a voltage range of 4V to 24V. Unlike the KSQ1, the KSQ2 can also be connected directly to your AC transformer. One or more LEDs can be connected in series or parallel to the output of the KSQ. The higher the current, the brighter the LEDs shine, and vice versa. Pay attention to the maximum current rating of your LEDs. The LEDs share the output current. The number of LEDs at the output in a series circuit is limited by the LED's specifications and the input voltage.
Example for 30mA: Input voltage from the transformer 16V – 1.5V voltage drop across the regulator = 14.5V maximum at the output of the constant current source (CCS). A red LED, for example, has a forward voltage of approximately 2V. In a series circuit, 7 x 2V = 14V would be possible. A current of 30mA now flows through the series connection of the 7 red LEDs.
