Model: HO scale. With the then new NG driver's cab from Mercedes-Benz, the course at Wiking was set early - the long-standing Magirus turntable ladders were to take a back seat, at least temporarily. With the new Metz turntable ladder DLK 23/12, not only was Mercedes-Benz favored, the model makers had also given the turntable ladder significantly more detail - including a removable rescue cage. After all, since the prototypes of the round and corner hoods, but also the first generation of front handlebars, still came from Ulm, Wiking did without the squadron cabin when realizing this miniature and instead created a generation of turntable ladders with the squad cabin, which also stood for a tactical rethinking of firefighters in Germany's fire departments . Because from then on, the driving houses for a two-man squad and machinist should appear sufficient to the weirs. The turntable ladder experts from Karlsruhe, who now work under the Rosenbauer umbrella, also backed the standing basket, unlike Magirus in Ulm. In this generation of vehicles, the cage was still below the turntable ladder when it was at rest and had to be put on first before it could be used - today that's all history because valuable rescue seconds were lost. In any case, the Metz turntable ladder with basket, DLK 23-12 for short, is a beautiful counterpart to the latest generation of the traditional Karlsruhe fire-fighting equipment factories, which are now part of the international Rosenbauer AG.

Wiking started their first production of traffic models in Berlin. For 85 years, impressive models have been created there that are the mirror image of German automobile manufacturing. Now the Wiking range is designed and produced in south-west Germany by the Sieper Group. The range is constantly growing with new examples such as fire engine turntable ladders and passenger cars, but also current tractors as well as various classics. Not only current examples are brought out in miniature, but also forgotten models.
