The company Rietze Bausatzfertigung was founded in 1970 by Lothar Rietze, especially for the companies Modellbau Dörfler and Modellbau Schweiger as well as Pola. There, kit novelties of buildings were assembled into finished models. In 1980, the company RIBU was founded with the help of Ernst Bundle. In the process, Mr. Rietze developed the KA NEM close coupling system. This coupling system allows all wagons of all manufacturers to run closely coupled together.
In the following years, the managing director founded further subsidiaries, which, for example, concentrated on the production of Japanese car models. In the years to come, partnerships were formed with various car manufacturers such as Mercedes. In 2000, the two companies "Rietze Formenbau" and "Rietze Automodelle" were merged under the joint company name "Rietze Automodelle".
