Model: HO gauge AC. Electric locomotive BB 22200 of the French State Railways (SNCF). Stone gray basic paint scheme. Road number BB 22307. The locomotive appears as it did around 1985.
Model: With an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions. Controlled high-efficiency propulsion with a centrally mounted flywheel. All four axles are driven via cardan shafts. Traction tires. Triple headlights and two red taillights change over with the direction of travel, in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. Headlights on locomotive ends 2 and 1 can each be digitally switched off separately. Double-A light function. Cab lighting can be controlled digitally. Lighting with maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. With buffer storage. Many separately applied parts such as windshield wipers, fan grilles, grab rails, and roof wires. Detailed roof superstructures with newly designed pantographs with different contact strips. Buffer height according to NEM. Brake lines, screw couplings, and various power sockets are included as separately attachable parts.

Prototype: A Touch of the Côte d'Azur "Ligure," "Mistral," or "Train Bleu": For decades, the rich and famous traveled to the Côte d'Azur on these luxury trains. In the 1970s, a locomotive type that made history on SNCF tracks thanks to its sophisticated technology and extravagant design was not the only thing that made its way onto these legendary trains. "Nez cassé" (broken nose) was the nickname given not only to the railway workers for the unusual head shape designed by Paul Arzens. It was almost a revolutionary alternative to the previously rather boring, square locomotive bodies. The series, designated BB 22200, perfectly matched the idiosyncratic and exclusive flair of the world-famous Côte d'Azur. Furthermore, the 22200s, with their multi-system technology, could be used throughout France. This made it possible, for example, to run a 1,000 km continuous route from Paris via Nice to Ventimiglia on the legendary "Train Bleu" night train. Until the advent of the TGV high-speed trains, the 205 22200s built were considered the star locomotives of the SNCF. Today, numerous examples are still in use in the more mundane regional and freight train service. Their extravagant appearances are thus history for the larger model.

Gebr. Märklin & Cie. GmbH, Stuttgarter Straße 55-57, 73033 Göppingen, Deutschland, service@maerklin.de, www.maerklin.de

In 2009 Märklin celebrated its 150th anniversary. However, from an initially quite wide range of toys, the product range concentrated over time on the manufacture of electric railways in different gauges. The excellent quality of the products made the name Märklin synonymous with model railways worldwide. Even today, the material metal is an essential element in the manufacture of locomotives, which thereby gain additional value in addition to their proverbial reliability and performance.

Märklin H0: The majority of Märklin products are manufactured in this gauge on a scale of 1:87. Due to the high operational reliability of the Märklin H0 three-wire alternating current system, Märklin has contributed to making this gauge the most widely used in the world. All Märklin H0 locomotives have been digitally controllable as standard since 2000.

Märklin Z-gauge: Model railway enthusiasts do not only opt for Z-gauge on a scale of 1:220 when space is limited. In Europe Märklin is the only large-scale manufacturer of Z-gauge, which appeals not only to passionate layout builders but also to collectors.
