Prototype: The Italian state railways had 20 dual-system locomotives built by ABB technomasio to use them in cross-border and cross-system traffic between Italy and Austria or Germany. These high-performance locomotives reach a speed of 220 km/h and are able to deliver an output of 6 MW or 5.5 MW under 3 kV direct current or 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz alternating current.
The machines, which went into operation in 1997, are still proving their worth in use in Italy today and most of them have the current Mercitalia Rail paint scheme.

Here, too, Roco is a pioneer. The Roco factory in Arad was the first factory in the model railway industry to be certified according to ISO 9001 by the German DQS GmbH.
