Prototype: From 1977 onwards, the Deutsche Reichsbahn purchased 270 series locomotives of the 250 series (later the BR 155) for heavy freight train service. Due to the lack of streamlined curves, which are negligible given the low top speed, it was nicknamed the electricity container or brick. In 2017, Deutsche Bahn sold 100 locomotives to a consortium including Railpool and Toshiba. The 155 138 was given a shiny silver dress by Railpool to attract attention. Some of the locomotives approved for use in Germany and Austria were offered for sale.
