With the serial number 3676 and built in 1921, this locomotive of the class 38.10-40 was in service for many years, then converted in 1951 to go down in history as the legendary test locomotive 78 1001 in the German railway technology. As a real construction novelty, the 38 2919 shows itself to be the first to be implemented as a Märklin H0 model at the end of its service in 1950 with Heimat-Bw Regensburg. With the DRB lanterns typical of the early epoch III and the small Wagner smoke deflectors, the front is modeled. The arrangement of the boiler structures with steam dome, sandpit and feed water purifier is also closely modeled on the model. This also applies to the fine spoke wheel sets on the locomotive and tender. The predominant metal construction ensures the very good running properties of the model and its impressive tractive force is thanks to a strong motor that finds its place in the boiler. Even if the P 8 with over 3,900 units is one of the most successful locomotives in railway history and has produced many railway models, this one BR 38 must not be missing on any model railroad layout, because it has its own exciting history.
Märklin H0: The majority of Märklin products are manufactured in this gauge on a scale of 1:87. Due to the high operational reliability of the Märklin H0 three-wire alternating current system, Märklin has contributed to making this gauge the most widely used in the world. All Märklin H0 locomotives have been digitally controllable as standard since 2000.
Märklin Z-gauge: Model railway enthusiasts do not only opt for Z-gauge on a scale of 1:220 when space is limited. In Europe Märklin is the only large-scale manufacturer of Z-gauge, which appeals not only to passionate layout builders but also to collectors.
