Model: HO gauge AC. With mfx+ digital decoder and extensive light and sound functions. Regulated high-performance drive with flywheel in the boiler. 3 axles powered. traction tires. Locomotive and tender largely made of metal. Smoke insert installed as standard, with speed-dependent, dynamic smoke output, digitally switchable. The triple headlights, which change depending on the direction of travel, work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. In addition, two red lamps at the front of the locomotive can be controlled digitally. Driver's cab and chassis lighting as well as firebox flickering can be controlled separately digitally. Lighting with maintenance-free warm white and red light-emitting diodes (LED). Adjustable close coupling with kinematics between locomotive and tender. Kinematically controlled, current-carrying close coupling on the tender with NEM shaft for switching the headlights on the additional tender. Buffer height on locomotive and tender according to NEM. Additional tender equipped with separable, current-carrying close couplings on both sides. The side of the headlights can be selected using a toggle switch in the tender floor. This can be controlled digitally via the locomotive’s decoder. Minimum passable radius 360 mm. For large radii or display cases, a panel without a wheel cutout below the driver's cab is included for replacement. Piston rod protection tubes, heating and brake hoses are also included.

Prototype: Express train steam locomotive 18 201 with oil main combustion and additional tender. Former locomotive of the German Reichsbahn of the GDR (DR/GDR), which was built as a test locomotive for the VES-M Halle (Saale) from parts of the 61 002 and the H45 024. Operating condition around 2017, as it was used before special trains.
Variations of this product
In 2009 Märklin celebrated its 150th anniversary. However, from an initially quite wide range of toys, the product range concentrated over time on the manufacture of electric railways in different gauges. The excellent quality of the products made the name Märklin synonymous with model railways worldwide. Even today, the material metal is an essential element in the manufacture of locomotives, which thereby gain additional value in addition to their proverbial reliability and performance.

Märklin H0: The majority of Märklin products are manufactured in this gauge on a scale of 1:87. Due to the high operational reliability of the Märklin H0 three-wire alternating current system, Märklin has contributed to making this gauge the most widely used in the world. All Märklin H0 locomotives have been digitally controllable as standard since 2000.

Märklin Z-gauge: Model railway enthusiasts do not only opt for Z-gauge on a scale of 1:220 when space is limited. In Europe Märklin is the only large-scale manufacturer of Z-gauge, which appeals not only to passionate layout builders but also to collectors.
