Model: HO gauge AC. Panorama car Bp 2507 with 50 years of the Bernina Express logo of the RhB.

Role model: A trip on the Rhaetian Railways Bernina Express (BEX) is one of the most beautiful railway adventure trips in the world. The route used is the highest rail connection across the Alps that operates all year round. Consequently, in 2008 it was only the third railway line in the world to receive the UNESCO World Heritage label: loops to gain height, some with sweeping viaducts, breathtakingly high viaducts over deep gorges, countless elaborate tunnel structures on the one hand, and the view of impressive glaciers and, a little later, palm trees on the other, combine many impressions his journey of just under four and a half hours between the Graubünden cantonal capital Chur over the Bernina Pass to Tirano in northern Italy.

The foundation for today's success of the express train was laid in the 1960s with the procurement program for the EW I standard wagons. The 14 slightly shortened EW I AB 1541-1546 and B 2307-2314, which were put into service in 1968 (and the B 2451-2460, which were subsequently purchased in 1972 ) finally made it possible for the summer season of 1969 to use continuous, transfer-free through coaches from Chur via the Albula line to Tirano. This marked the birth of the express train with the name Bernina Express on the route board of the through carriages. For the 1973 summer season, the use of the new Gem 4/4 801+802 two-power locomotives from Samedan enabled an accelerated handover from the main network to the Bernina line. From 1973 onwards, the through carriages ran as an independent Samedan-Tirano train and were henceforth referred to as the Bernina Express in the route book. The use of the EW III and later EW IV significantly increased the comfort of the train.

The millennium brought another major boost in comfort when air-conditioned panoramic cars were put into service for the Bernina Express (as had been the case for the Glacier Express in 1993). In the anniversary year, the panoramic cars will receive a corresponding anniversary logo.

The Bemo company has been manufacturing railroad models in large-scale plastic technology in Uhingen (Baden-Württemberg) since 1976. 25 employees mainly produce models in the scales 1:87 and 1:45, but in the meantime there are also some 1:160 models in the program. The H0 models are mainly narrow gauge models in H0e and H0m based on models of Swiss, Austrian and German railroads. The gauge 0 models are offered without exception as 0m, i.e. as meter gauge models, after prototypes of the Rhaetian Railway. Also in H0, besides many models of diesel railcars, many different cars of the Rhaetian Railway are offered, so that the normal H0 model railroader can look forward to beautiful trains from the Swiss Alps. In N gauge, you can currently find models of the RegioShuttle from ADtranz/Stadler in the Bemo program.

In the development and production, great emphasis is placed on uncompromising replication, also, if possible, entire train sets are offered. Narrow gauge track systems in H0e and H0m as well as a track system in 0m complete the Bemo range.
