General properties of ZIMO Decoders: DCC addresses 1 ... 10239, composite addresses 1 ... 9999 (SB 2017, Veren: 127), mm addresses 1 ... 80, functions F0 ... F12 ( .. F20 for sound), 14, 28 or 128 (external) driving steps, 256 or 1024 internal stages, programming the CVS in Service Mode (at the programming track) and in operational mode (with RailCom to acknowledge and read), Uncovered driving (without Decoder reset and restart) For contact interruptions up to 1 or 2 sec (effectively without external energy storage), automatic avoidance of pause on de-energized railroads - softherzen, dirt (effective when external energy storage available), DC analog mode with Automatic detection, optionally unregulated or regulated, AC analog operation (including Märklin overvoltage pulse for direction reversal). Update-enabled software: New software versions are loaded without opening the locomotive, via USB stick using the ZIMO Decoder update device MXulf (A), the central driving machine MX31ZL or the base unit MX10; directly from the computer via ZSP (Zimo Sound Programmer) and MXulf or MX10.
Safety: overcurrent protection for all outputs, overtemperature protection, details see I under continuous current and peak current, protection against overvoltage tips of the motor inductance by supressor diodes, power resistance 35V to 50 V.
Engine control and control: low-noise high-frequency motor drive, optionally with 20 or 40 kHz, suitable for all DC motors and bell anchor engines (Faulhaber, maxxon), with additional diodes also AC motors, also for difficult cases like Fleischmann round engine or old, only low-frequency-compatible motors, ZIMO motor control with self-optimization and numerous adjustment options for manual optimization, speed characteristic optionally three-point or free-programmable in 28 levels (according to standard), alternative East-West direction control and feedback, together with Basic device MX10 and control panel MX32 (from 2017), km / h control (per speed 1/2 km / h, 1 km / h or 2 km / h) as an alternative to conventional driving speed control, adjustable measure to compensate the gear center at Direction of direction to avoid starting pressure, ZIMO acceleration settings (standard, additionally exponential for soft start / stop, adaptive against start-up pressure) , Shunting key functions (half-speed, reduction or shutdown of the start / braking time, optionally by F3, F4, or MAN), automatic continuity when the wheel / rail contact is interrupted until supply is restored (if energy storage is in locomotive).
Train control and feedback: Brake links DC, ABC (stop via asymmetric DCC signal), Märklin brake track, ZIMO signal-dependent train control (HLU) with speed limit in 5 stages and stop before the red signal, ZIMO train number recognition in connection with ZIMO Digital System and Zimo track section modules MX9, (in newer applications, especially stone modules or Roco feedback, train number recognition is made with RailCom), constant braking distance in two extension variants (braking begins either always immediately, or the later, the small current speed, or the later, the small current speed ), Railcom: km / h Feedback, CV On-the-Main Read and confirmed programming, Railcom address confirmation, many other Railcom applications are scheduled in future software versions.
Energy storage connection: With external energy storage (ELKOS, Tantals, Gold Caps): continuing despite contact interruption, eliminate the light flicker and sound disturbances, compensate for energy loss through RailCom and HLU gaps. Energy storage up to 5000 ?F directly (without additional components) CAN be connected to all Decoders and sound Decoders with a length> 20 mm (except MX600), thus full effect without disturbances when programming and the train number pulses and limiting the in-rush current. Gold caps with unlimited capacity directly connectable to some of the little ones and to all major library Decoders.
The company Zimo Elektronik was founded in Vienna in 1980. From the beginning, Zimo was engaged in the development and production of digital control systems for model railways. With the predecessor company "ZIEGLER & MAIR", the first systems were already sold in 1979. In the 1980s to 1990s many trend-setting production lines were introduced such as the digital systems "M1000" and "M2000" as well as the decoders "M4000", "M4001" and the operating controllers "M5000". From 1996 onwards, Zimo products were designed for the DCC rail signal standardised by the NMRA as well as for the MM system. In the following years, the production capacity of the company was increased and the product range expanded.
