The LokSound 5 Fx is a special feature within the LokSound family: It has no motor output and is specially designed for use in control cars or power cars that require a sound but do not have a model drive themselves. By omitting the motor part, it can still offer all the sound features of the other LokSound 5 members on a size of only 21.5mm x 15.5mm.
LokSound 5 Fx decoders are offered with an 8-pin interface according to NEM652 or a 21MTC interface and always come with an 11 x 15 mm "sugar cube" loudspeaker and sound capsule kit.
Modes of operation
Like all family members, the LokSound 5 Fx is a real multi-protocol decoder. He masters the data format DCC as well as Motorola®, Selectrix® and M4. In the DCC format, 14 to 128 speed steps are as natural as 2 and 4-digit addresses and up to 32 functions. With the help of RailComPlus® technology, the decoders log on to a suitable digital center fully automatically.
It masters all DCC programming modes and can be driven and programmed with compatible digital central units: Thanks to RailCom®, the CV values ??on the main track can be read out with suitable central units. Auxiliary registers exist for central units that can only program CVs from 1-255.
Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed levels with 255 addresses. Three additional Motorola® addresses enable 16 functions to be triggered. A built-in programming mode also enables reprogramming with the venerable 6021 Control Unit.
The M4 protocol allows automatic logon to mfx®-compatible control panels. The LokSound 5 Fx decoder recognizes the Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU braking commands or the Lenz® ABC system. "Braking" with DCC brake modules or with direct voltage is also possible. It also stops at a Selectrix® braking diode. An ABC automatic shuttle train enables automatic commuting between two train stations.
The LokSound 5 decoder can be used on analogue DC and AC railways.
The decoder switches between the operating modes fully automatically "on-the-fly". Usually nothing needs to be adjusted.
Sound
The LokSound 5 Fx decoder can play back up to 12 channels at the same time. Each channel can be resolved with up to 16 bit / 31250 kHz and offers HiFi quality on your system. There is practically no difference to the original. A Class-D audio power amplifier with an output power of up to 3W controls the loudspeakers, which can have an impedance of between 4 and 32 ohms. A 128 Mbit sound memory ensures sufficient capacity.
The volume of all individual noises can be adjusted individually. The super flexible sound engine without a rigid schedule allows the prototypical simulation of all conceivable rail vehicles. Functions There are also some lights to switch in the control car or power end. Therefore we have equipped the LokSound 5 Fx with 6 amplified function outputs. In the version with 21MTC interface, there are also 6 outputs for controlling servos or logic level outputs. All important light functions are available. The brightness of each output can be adjusted separately.
Engine control
Although the LokSound 5 Fx itself does not have a motor output, it still "simulates" one. This is used for synchronization with the motor vehicle, where ideally a "full" LokSound 5 decoder does its job. In this way it is ensured in the train set that the brakes squeal at the same time or that the lights switch the direction of travel at the same time.
Operational safety
On request, a PowerPack can be connected to the LokSound 5 Fx to bridge dirty rail sections.
