With locomotives, up to 32 functions can be switched, with accessories, up to 320 Motorola or 2048 DCC magnetic items are possible. Furthermore, the Central Station 3 plus has 2 built-in locomotive card readers (for storing the locomotive data on a locomotive card or for quickly calling up the locomotive by inserting the locomotive card), an SD card slot for memory expansion and an integrated loudspeaker for playing typical model railway noises.
A powerful booster is integrated to supply the system with driving and switching current. The Central Station 3 plus is multi-device capable, i.e. with the optional cable (60123) several Central Station 3 plus (60216) can be operated together on one system. Additional controllers, further layouts and keyboards expand the operation of the system, whereby common and separate configurations for the system areas to be controlled can be kept in the Central Station 3 plus. The Central Station 3 plus has an integrated s88 connection, 2 built-in USB hosts (e.g. for mouse, keyboard, USB stick), a USB charging socket, a network connection for communication with a PC, connections for 2 mobile phones Stations, a connection for external loudspeakers and others for the Märklin bus system.
Load capacity on the feeder track: max. 5 A, load capacity on the programming track: max. 1.2 A. When using the 60061 switched-mode power supply, the maximum output power is 58 VA and a maximum current of 3 A (with the 60216 with the 60101/L51095 switched-mode power supply a maximum current of 5 A, recommended exclusively for Gauge 1/LGB. In 2009 Märklin celebrated its 150th anniversary. However, from an initially quite wide range of toys, the product range concentrated over time on the manufacture of electric railways in different gauges. Märklin H0: The majority of Märklin products are manufactured in this gauge on a scale of 1:87. Due to the high operational reliability of the Märklin H0 three-wire alternating current system, Märklin has contributed to making this gauge the most widely used in the world. All Märklin H0 locomotives have been digitally controllable as standard since 2000.
Märklin Z-gauge: Model railway enthusiasts do not only opt for Z-gauge on a scale of 1:220 when space is limited. In Europe Märklin is the only large-scale manufacturer of Z-gauge, which appeals not only to passionate layout builders but also to collectors.
