In 1878 a competition for the design of the public conveniences was announced in Berlin and the design by the city planning director Carl Theodor Rosputt prevailed. The design consisted of wall segments in an octagonal floor plan and a three-part screen as a screen in front of the entrance. Cast iron painted green was used as the material. The Berliners gave the urinals the nickname Cafe Achteck. In 1883 there were already 77 across the city, and in 1920 with the formation of Greater Berlin there were 142 Café Achteck. Some of them are still preserved today and some of them are preserved in accordance with monument regulations. Some of them now also have 2 modern toilets installed.
Over the years, the range has been expanded to include model making items such as aircraft and military model construction as well as model railways from other countries.
