Klv 20: The Bulli for the rails

Based on the well-known VW T1, Brekina created the Klv 20 as an interesting rail vehicle in H0 gauge. Since we took over the forms of the model railway products from Brekina some time ago, we had the chance to relaunch this project with today's possibilities.

Our product manager Heiko Stoll has taken on the issue and provided the models with an interface and a new drive. In addition, thanks to the cooperation with Doehler & Haass and Zimo, we can now offer the models in digital or with a newly recorded sound.

The colorful realization makes us curious! Which of these is your favorite variant?

If I didn't like a model, I wouldn't develop it :) I think we have a very exciting selection here for all possible areas of application. For the Safari and the Flower Power Bus we will of course be slaughtered by the experts.

Finally, the question: If I still have an old Brekina model, are the spare parts compatible with each other?

We haven't changed the shapes, that is, the chassis and the housing, as well as the add-on parts are the same. The motor, circuit board and drive are new, so the parts here are not compatible. However, our service concept for our own products goes so far that we offer the spare parts for our models on a long-term basis and thus want to ensure a supply for long-term operation of the models. The spare parts are displayed online for the customer. To make it as easy as possible for the customer, we will link the spare parts and the operating instructions directly to the product in our web shop.

Conclusion: The Klv 12 was the first H0 project to be implemented from the old Brekina forms. The Klv 20 now follows as another suitable handcar for the H0 model railroader. Heiko Stoll has told us what the next project will be, which will be realized from the Brekina forms... Let us surprise you.

Knocked on the door of the product manager: What can the model railroader imagine with the new drive on the Klv 20?

The newer motors and decoders offer more space at the top, so that a decoder and loudspeaker can now also be installed. The drive is characterized by a very smooth start-up. Our technical department is absolutely delighted with the driving performance of this small two-axle vehicle. We have now also equipped the model with a 6-pin interface.

So can I let the Klv run carefree on my rails, e.g. from Roco or Trix?

Exactly. We have done test runs on a large number of DC tracks. The Klv 20 (as well as the Klv 12) run without problems in all radii and over all switches. Only the Finescale track from Peco is difficult for the vehicle, since the track surface is very small and therefore the small wheels of the Klv20 do not always ensure sufficient support for the power supply.

Which sound decoder does Zimo use?

We install the Zimo MS500N. Mr. Mayer accompanied us very well in the project and specially adapted the sound to the model. The customer gets an original driving and gaming experience with the sound model.
