Building Lasercut Models:
The construction of laser-cut building models from graphic cardboard differs from conventional plastic kits in only a few points. If you consider the following things, you have the best prerequisites for an excellent model building experience and result with laser cut models:
Separate the individual laser-cut parts from the laser-cut sheet. A normal craft knife (cutter) is less suitable, a very sharp scalpel works better. It is important that you cut straight and perpendicular. This gives you an exact edge and saves you post-processing.
Sort the components according to the assembly instructions. Too much smoke on the cut edges can be removed with a soft cloth or carefully with a fiberglass eraser so that the glue adheres well. For gluing we recommend the Modellbahn Union Lasercut Universal Glue (MU-A10000), alternatively Roket Card Glue (AD57) from Deluxe Materials. White glue is not recommended because of its high water content. Apply a thin layer of glue, preferably with a toothpick, to the glued area and join the laser-cut parts together. Note that our glue takes little time to dry. When using glue from other manufacturers, the glued areas of the glued laser-cut components can also be fixed with rubber bands or small spring clips. The same adhesive can be used for the window panes, applying the adhesive sparingly to the edge. Most laser-cut building kits have pre-lasered holes in the baseplate that you can open fully if needed to run wiring for lighting up to the ceiling. It is advisable to install the lighting before installing the roof.
Our laser-cut models are made of colored graphic cardboard and normally do not have to be treated with paint. To age lasercut models, we recommend acrylic paints or the dry brush technique with powder paints. Apply the powder to your laser cut model with a soft brush. The disadvantage of powder paints is that you should no longer touch the treated areas. In some cases it makes sense to fix the powder with a little matt spray paint. Thin liquid water and poster paints are not suitable.
